Hailing from a prominent business family in Kannur, a small town in India known as the land of looms and lores, Raheena used to assist her father’s business right from her college days. A Post Graduate in Commerce and an AMFI (Association of Mutual Funds in India) certified professional, she quit her job with ICICI Bank, to start her own mutual fund investments consultancy services. In 2008, she also formed ‘Ashrah Foundation International’, a charitable organisation registered in India aiming for the upliftment of downtrodden women and children through education and micro finance. She moved to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the largest Arab country of the Middle East, in the year 2006. Even though almost all of the international brand names in women’s fashion were available in the market, there seemed to be a lack of quality Indian dress materials for women. Quick to identify this opportunity, she ventured into the textile business in 2008 by importing dress materials from Mumbai, the fashion capital of India. Now, “mumbaibazaar”, the brain child of Raheena Ashique, is redefining the fashion arena in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia not just for Indian women, but for many other Asian and Arab women too. Raheena believes that as long as we are straightforward in business being true to our heart and meet the expectations of our clients, there is no looking back. In business, her favorite quote is “It is not your customer’s job to remember you, it is your obligation and responsibility to make sure they don't have the chance to forget you.” |
